The MTC is a course designed for the beginner rider but will also offer additional knowledge and practice for the more experienced rider. The course consists of classroom instruction and riding instruction. It is offered in a one weekend format.
In Woodland the course is a Friday classroom session and range sessions on Saturday and Sunday.

MOTORCYCLE TRAINING COURSE (MTC)
Successful completion of the MTC is required for anyone under the age of 21 who wants to obtain an M1 or M2 permit or license. Therefore the California Highway Patrol requires a discounted fee for this age group.

$350 for those who are 21 and older
Pricing is determined by the CMSP contract with the California Highway Patrol.
The MTC includes 6 hours of classroom instruction. At the end of the classroom sessions a written multiple choice assessment is given.
Please note the classroom sessions are held at a different location than the riding sessions.
With 10 hours of practical riding in a controlled environment each student is able to practice the skills being taught. An assessment is given at the end of the riding sessions to ensure each rider has the basic skills to continue their riding experience.
For the beginner rider the course provides basics on motorcycles and their controls, what gear to wear for protection and comfort. The rider will come away with the information and skills needed to be a safe confident rider.
A veteran rider will find the advanced skills and techniques allow them to better understand issues like traction managment. They will improve their skills and confidence.
Riders of all levels will find the course provides the skills to enhance safety and enjoyment.
The State of California waives the riding portion of the motorcycle endorsment test if you successfully complete the course and receive your DL389.
